School Based Therapist, Detroit Public Schools

What we are looking for:
As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, CNS Healthcare's mission is to serve the people of our communities.
The School-Based Clinician is responsible for providing mental health services to students and their families who are eligible to receive services.
These services include in-school child therapy and case management services.
The Clinician provides guidance, support, and/or referrals to assist students with increasing their overall level of functioning in the areas of emotional health, academic, family life, and involvement in their community.
They also provide consultative support to the school's faculty members.
Services shall include:
conducting educational trainings, classroom observations, developing behavioral plans, providing in-home therapeutic services and case management services to parents experiencing psychosocial stressors.

This position does provide services in a school-based setting.

Interview students individually, in families, or in groups, assessing their situations, capabilities, stressors and interpersonal challenges to determine what services may be needed to assist in meeting their academic and emotional needs.
Maintain case history records and prepare reports.
Counsel students whose behavior, school progress, or mental or physical impairment indicate a need for assistance, diagnosing students' SED status and arranging for services.
Attend all staff meetings at assigned school(s) and School Based Services Team Meetings.
Daily activities require coordination and approval by School Administration.
Reports to School Administrator or designee and Program Supervisor daily Provide workshops, educational activities or in-service staff trainings for School Administration/Teachers/Personnel on mental health related topics.
Perform classroom observations and individual observations as assigned.
In conjunction, provide follow up and clinical consultation as needed.
Assist in writing behavioral plans for classroom and at home.
Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehavior, and to assist with problem-solving and implementing solutions.
Consult parents with child-rearing problems, interviewing the child and family to determine whether further external referrals are required based on school protocols.
Develop and review IPOS service plans in consultation with consumers, and assess the quantity and quality of services provided.
Collect supplementary information needed to assist consumers, such as academic records, medical records, or school reports.
Address any potential abuse and report to CPS as required, including but not limited to child abuse and neglect.
Refer and arrange for case management support services, such as childcare, homemaker service, prenatal care, substance abuse treatment, job training, counseling, or parenting classes, to prevent more serious problems from developing.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required A Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or similar State licensure:
Limited-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LLMFT), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Limited-Licensed Master's Social Worker (LLMSW), Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Limited-Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP), Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP), or Licensed Psychologist (LP) Knowledge of child development and childhood psychiatric disorders Prior clinical experience working with all age groups including children, solution focused brief therapy; substance abuse and co-occurring disorders treatment; stages of change and/or motivation interviewing.
Understanding of basic clinical theories and treatment modalities including those related to prevention and wellness, crisis management, time-limited therapies, and group therapies.
Ability to function effectively as part of a professional team delivering therapy and case management services to the identified populating Basic knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy.
Understanding of substance used and co-occurring disorders treatment.
Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously Ability to use discretion and judgment when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature Advanced time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, collaboration, crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills Ability to be forward thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the department Intermediate level experience with computers and Microsoft office products Ability to understand and value cultural and ethnic differences, their alternative perspectives, lifestyles, etc.
PreferredMinimum of two (2) years' experience working in a school-based environment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
